Meat Loaf Supreme
- 2 lb. extra lean hamburger, ground chuck, ground round or a little of each
- 1 c. milk
- 2 to 3 slices bread, torn
- 3 slices quartered American or Cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 egg (2 if small), beaten
- 1 c. crushed saltine crackers (you can also use some oats or even Fritos)
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 chopped green pepper
- salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat the oven to 375u0b0.
- Mix milk with torn bread; stir until bread is soaked in milk before adding to meat loaf.
- In large bowl, mix all ingredients and form into loaf.
- If too much liquid, add more crushed crackers.
- Cover entire loaf with catsup. Add a tiny bit of water around loaf if using extra lean ground chuck.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for about 45 minutes.
- Cut through center of loaf or even slice entire loaf to ensure even baking and let bake another 20 minutes.
- Ovens vary so check after 15 minutes.
