Cherry Cobbler

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together in another bowl; add this alternately to creamed mixture with milk.
  4. Beat until smooth. Pour into loaf pan or 2-quart casserole.
  5. Spoon drained cherries over batter.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar, 1/4 to 1/2 cup as needed per tartness of cherries.
  7. Pour 1 cup fruit juice and water mixture over top.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until top browns.
  9. During baking, juice goes to bottom and cakelike layer comes to the top.
