Cabbage And Meat Balls
- 10 to 12 cabbage leaves
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1 egg
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 c. rice (regular)
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 (10 oz.) can tomato soup
- 1 (10 oz.) can water
- 1/2 medium onion, sliced
- In a bowl, combine hamburger, uncooked rice, egg, salt and pepper.
- Set aside.
- Boil cabbage leaves for 5 minutes.
- In a pan, saute onion in vegetable oil.
- Add lemon juice, sugar, soup and water.
- Simmer.
- Take 1/10 of hamburger mixture, roll into a ball, wrap a cabbage leaf around the mixture and place it in a large pot with the opening of cabbage at the bottom.
- Continue until all hamburger/cabbage is used.
- Pour the onion/soup sauce over cabbage rolls.
- Simmer on low for 3 hours.
