Mccall'S Best Chocolate Loaf
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 c. sifted plain flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. soft butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
- 1 3/4 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- In small bowl, pour boiling water over chocolate.
- Let cool. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
- Grease and flour a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Sift flour with salt and soda.
- Set aside.
- In large bowl of electric mixer at high speed, beat butter, vanilla, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- At low speed, beat in flour mixture; alternate with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Beat in chocolate mixture just until combined.
