Toasty Cheese Bake
- 8 slices bread
- 4 tablespoons margarine
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped celery (optional)
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3/4 cup nonfat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Toast bread, butter both sides.
- Cook & stir meat, onion, celery, prepared mustard & 1/2 tsp salt until meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain and discard fluids
- Alternate layers of toast, meat mixture & cheese in a 9"x9" greased baking pan.
- Mix remaining ingredients: pour over layers in pan.
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes.
- Add paprika on top if desired.
