Savory Pork Chops En Casserole
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 (20 oz.) can tomatoes
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- pinch of oregano
- 1 c. soft breadcrumbs
- 2 c. canned applesauce
- 1 (20 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained
- 6 (1-inch) pork chops
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 c. prepared horseradish
- Saute onions in butter or margarine.
- Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano and breadcrumbs.
- Combine applesauce and horseradish; mix well.
- Combine tomato mixture, applesauce mixture and sauerkraut.
- Pour into covered casserole.
- Saute pork chops until golden brown.
- Lay chops on sauerkraut mixture and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Cover; bake at 375u0b0 for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until chops are tender.
- Yield: 6 servings.
