Brown Paper Bag Pie
- 6 large apples, pared, cored and cut into slices
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. flour (a little more if apples are juicy)
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter, melted
- 9-inch unbaked pie shell
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- Combine all ingredients (except apples, pie shell and lemon juice) to coat apples.
- Put apples into pie shell and drizzle lemon juice over them.
- Sprinkle topping over apples, then slice into a heavy brown paper shopping bag (bag must not touch the top of the pie).
- Double fold the end of the bag and fasten with paper clips. Place on cookie sheet.
- Bake at 425u0b0 for 1 hour.
- Split bag open immediately.
- Cool.
- This is a great way to save your oven from pie spills.
- The pie always turns out perfect.
