Boston Baked Beans(Microwave)

  1. Remove and discard any stones from beans; rinse and drain. In a 2 1/2-quart casserole, combine beans and 6 cups water.
  2. In microwave, cook covered on High 16 to 22 minutes, until boiling. Cook on High for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove and let stand covered 1 hour. Cook covered at Medium (50% power) 30 to 40 minutes, until beans are tender, but not soft.
  4. Press cloves into onion; add with remaining ingredients to casserole.
  5. Cook covered on High 30 to 40 minutes, stirring 4 times until beans are soft.
  6. If desired, remove and discard onion before serving.
  7. Makes 12 serving (1/2 cup); 262 calories, 10 g protein, 9 g fat, 37 g carbohydrates and 197 mg sodium.
