Zvadly Salat(Wilted Lettuce)

  1. Leaf lettuce is best for this dish, but head lettuce may be used.
  2. Take 1 or 2 bunches of leaf lettuce (depends on the size of the bunch and the number of people to be served).
  3. Take leaves apart; remove blemishes and rinse until clean.
  4. Tear into pieces. Chop bacon; place in skillet and fry until done; remove bacon from the drippings.
  5. Add chopped onion to taste; saute until transparent.
  6. Return bacon to skillet and add salt to taste (it takes very little), sugar and vinegar.
  7. Heat to boiling.
  8. Add the lettuce and lightly stir until lettuce is coated with the seasonings and is slightly wilted.
  9. Serve at once.
  10. A tablespoon or two of sour cream may be added.
