Meat Loaf With Tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 can water
- 1/4 to 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 to 3/4 tsp. oregano
- 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. brown or white sugar
- 1 lb. ground beef or mixture of beef, veal and pork
- 1/2 c. rolled oats or bread crumbs
- 1/2 green pepper, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3/4 c. sharp cheese, grated or diced
- Mix the ground beef, rolled oats or bread crumbs, green pepper, onion and cheese.
- Add 1/2 cup or more tomato sauce, mixing well.
- Shape into a meat loaf or pack into a loaf pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
- If you use the veal-beef-pork mixture, bake at 325u0b0 for an additional 30 minutes. Serve with more tomato sauce on the individual portions.
