Caramel Bars

  1. Heat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Grease a rectangular pan.
  3. Heat caramels and milk in a 2-quart saucepan over low heat; stir frequently until smooth.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Mix flour, brown sugar, soda, salt and egg in a large bowl.
  6. Stir in butter with a fork until crumbly.
  7. Press 1/2 of the crumb mixture into the pan.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle with chips and nuts; drizzle with caramel. Press remaining crumb mixture over the top; bake until golden brown, for 20 to 25 minutes.
  10. Cool for 30 minutes; cut into bars.
