Grandma Sawyer'S Old Time Fruitcake
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. fig preserves
- 1 orange, grated
- 1/2 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 jar cherries
- 1/2 lb. raisins
- 1/2 lb. coconut
- 1 qt. pecans, chopped
- 1 pt. walnuts, chopped
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing after each addition.
- Mix dry ingredients together and add to sugar mixture, mixing well.
- Stir in fig preserves and grated orange.
- Add remaining ingredients and mix together.
- Grandma always used her hands to mix it together real good.
- Bake in a greased tube pan in a 300u0b0 oven for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
