Berry Cobbler

  1. Make a syrup with 1 cup sugar and water by heating to a boil. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cream butter, 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla.
  3. Add beaten egg and beat until smooth.
  4. Add dry ingredients and milk.
  5. Beat until smooth.
  6. Turn batter into 10 x 6-inch baking dish.
  7. Put berries over batter and sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar.
  8. Pour syrup over fruit and batter.
  9. Bake in moderate (350u0b0) oven 45 minutes.
  10. There will be a cake layer on top with fruit at the bottom.
  11. We usually double the recipe.
  12. Also good with fresh peaches or canned cherries.
