Custard Filled Cornbread

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Grease an 8-inch square pan with butter flavor Crisco.
  3. Put greased pan in oven and let it get hot while you mix the batter.
  4. Melt Crisco; mix with eggs until well blended. Add sugar, salt, milk and vinegar and beat well.
  5. Mix in flour, cornmeal, baking powder and soda; mix just until the batter is smooth and no lumps appear.
  6. Pour batter into heated dish.
  7. Pour cream into center of batter; do not stir.
  8. Bake for 1 hour or until lightly brown.
