Maravian Ginger Cookies
- 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- sugar
- Into 2-quart saucepan measure butter or margarine, brown sugar and molasses.
- Cook over medium heat until brown sugar dissolves and butter melts.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in flour and remaining ingredients except sugar, until blended.
- Spoon dough onto waxed paper.
- Cover and refrigerate until firm enough to roll (about 2 hours).
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease large cookie sheet.
- On floured surface, roll 1/2 of dough into 10 x 10-inches.
- Cut dough into 2 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch square.
- Prick.
- Sprinkle with sugar and bake.
- Repeat.
