Aunt Sue'S Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Cookies(Makes Enough For Several Hungry Kids.)
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. white sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- Stir together the flour and soda; set aside.
- Cream the sugars and shortening
- until
- light and fluffy, using mixer at medium speed.
- Add
- eggs,
- one
- at
- a time, beating well after each addition.
- Blend
- in vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk
- to
- the
- creamed mixture, beating well after each addition,
- using
- mixer
- at
- low
- speed.
- Stir
- in chocolate bits and nuts.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto greased baking
- sheets.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until
- golden
- brown.
- Remove
- from
- baking sheets. Cool on racks. Makes about 9 dozen cookies.
