- 3 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 c. raisins
- 2 to 3 large red apples, peeled and chopped
- 6 to 8 slices bread
- poultry seasoning to taste
- Soak the bread in water for about 1/2 hour.
- Next, mix all prepared ingredients together, making sure the bread was well distributed with the other ingredients.
- Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.
- Stuff turkey and close skin.
- Bake as usual.
- Makes enough stuffing for a 12 to 16 pound turkey.
- Use a sage-flavored sausage for an extra flavor.
- This stuffing will help keep the turkey moist from the inside.
- Cut the recipe down to stuff a roasting hen or other bird.
- Any stuffing that will not fit inside the bird can be baked in a casserole until hot all the way through.
