Monkey Bread

  1. Cream together in mixer shortening, butter, sugar and salt. Add potatoes.
  2. Add eggs; beat until light.
  3. Dissolve yeast in potato water.
  4. Add alternately 1 cup flour at low speed.
  5. Add 2 cups flour with warm milk.
  6. Knead in remaining flour.
  7. Knead until smooth on floured board.
  8. Place in lightly oiled bowl.
  9. Cover with towel and put in warm place.
  10. When dough doubles, divide in half. Roll out about 1/3-inch thick.
  11. Cut and dip pieces in butter.
  12. Lay pieces around one on top of other in 5-cup mold with center opening.
  13. Bake in 400u0b0 oven for 20 minutes.
  14. Reduce heat the last 10 to 12 minutes to 350u0b0.
  15. Makes 2 rings.
