Glazed Apples
- apples
- 2/3 c. water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3 red cinnamon candies
- a few drops of lemon juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- a dash (1/8 tsp.) salt
- butter
- plum jelly
- Use hard, tart apples, not Delicious.
- Peel and core them (any desired amount).
- Put water and sugar in saucepan and boil for about 10 minutes, half covered with liquid.
- Place apples in boiling water syrup and cook about 5 minutes.
- Cover apples with the sauce gently over and over with this sauce.
- Repeat until they are tender to the touch of a fork.
- Add about 3 red cinnamon candies to the sauce.
- Add lemon juice.
- Add vanilla and salt. Place 1/4 teaspoon butter in the cavity of each apple when you turn out fire.
- Let stand a few minutes.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon jelly in each cavity of the apples.
