Glazed Apples

  1. Use hard, tart apples, not Delicious.
  2. Peel and core them (any desired amount).
  3. Put water and sugar in saucepan and boil for about 10 minutes, half covered with liquid.
  4. Place apples in boiling water syrup and cook about 5 minutes.
  5. Cover apples with the sauce gently over and over with this sauce.
  6. Repeat until they are tender to the touch of a fork.
  7. Add about 3 red cinnamon candies to the sauce.
  8. Add lemon juice.
  9. Add vanilla and salt. Place 1/4 teaspoon butter in the cavity of each apple when you turn out fire.
  10. Let stand a few minutes.
  11. Add 1/2 teaspoon jelly in each cavity of the apples.
