- 4 hot dogs
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup milk
- 6 tablespoons cornmeal
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- 4 wooden skewers
- Preheat oil to 375 degrees in a deep fryer.
- Combine flour, salt, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, egg, and milk in a medium bowl. Mix well.
- Place the cornmeal mixture into a tall, skinny glass/cup.
- Cut hot dogs in half and roll in flour.
- Cut the skewers in half and skewer each hot dog.
- Dip each hot dog into the cornmeal mixture and allow the excess to drip off.
- Twirl the corn dog in the hot oil for about 5-10 seconds.
- You can now let go of the corn dog and let cook for about 10 minutes, until it is a dark, golden brown on each side.
- I was able to cook 4 corn dogs at a time.
- Drain corn dogs on a paper towel and serve.
