Apple Walnut Pie

  1. In bowl, combine the walnuts, brown sugar, egg, milk 1 T butter, vanilla and 1/4 t lemon juice.
  2. Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom pastry; trim even with edge of plate.
  3. Spread nut mixture over crust.
  4. In large bowl, toss apples with remaining lemon juice.
  5. Combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; toss with apples.
  6. Spoon over the nut mixture; dot with remaining butter.
  7. Roll out remaining pastry; make lattice crust, if desired.
  8. Trim, seal and flute edges.
  9. Brush top with additional milk, if desired.
  10. Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm.
