Chinese Fried Walnuts

  1. In a large saucepan over
  2. highteat,
  3. bring
  4. 6 cups of water to boiling.
  5. Add
  6. walnuts
  7. and
  8. reheat to boiling.took for 1 minute.
  9. Rinse under
  10. running
  11. hottater.train.tn a large bowl, toss walnutstith
  12. sugar.
  13. Meanwhile, in electric skillet, heat about 1-inch of salad oil to 350u0b0.
  14. With slotted spoon, add about half of the
  15. walnutsto
  16. the oil.
  17. Fry for 5 minutes or until golden,
  18. stirring often.
  19. With slotted spoon, place walnuts in coarse
  20. sieve
  21. over
  22. bowl to drain.
  23. Sprinkle with salt.
  24. Toss lightly to keep walnuts from sticking together.
  25. Transfer to waxed paper to cool.
  26. Fry remaining walnuts. Let cool at least 1 hour. Store in covered container.
  27. Yields 4 cups.
