German Chocolate Cake

  1. Heat Oven to 350.
  2. Grease 3 8 or 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In small bowl pour hot water over cooking chocolate.
  4. Stir until melted, let cool.
  5. In large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating after each egg. Blend in chocolate and vanilla.
  7. Mix in flour, baking soda & salt alternately with buttermilk.
  8. Fold in egg whites.
  9. Bake 35-45 minutes until top springs back when touched with finger.
  10. Cool and top with pecan frosting.
