Quick English Currant Bread

  1. Cream sugar and margarine.
  2. Add eggs.
  3. Combine flour, salt, spices, baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Add raisins, currants and candied fruit.
  5. Add buttermilk alternately with flour mixture. Make as moist as fruit cake.
  6. Pour into 2 loaf pans, greased and lined with waxed paper.
  7. Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 1/2 hour, then at 300u0b0 for last half hour.
  8. Cool on rack.
  9. Wrap in foil and store in refrigerator.
