Spicy Au Gratin Beef Bake
- 3/4 lb ground beef
- 1/3 cup finely chopped white onion
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
- 1 (5 1/4 ounce) package au gratin potatoes
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon melted butter or 1 teaspoon margarine
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0F.
- In a medium non-stick skillet, over medium heat, add the first 4 ingredients and cook until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender.
- Drain if needed.
- While meat mixture is browning, boil water.
- In a large bowl add rest of ingredients except shredded cheese. Mix well.
- Pour into a greased or sprayed 2-quart baking dish.
- Cover with lid or foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with cheese and bake until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
