No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 stick oleo
- 1/3 c. cocoa
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2/3 c. peanut butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 1/2 c. Quick cook oats
- 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
- pinch of salt
- Prepare in large mixing bowl three and one-half cups of quick cook oats.
- (Add one half cup nuts, if desired) and a pinch of salt.
- Mix in a saucepan, one and a half cups of sugar, one stick of soft margarine, one-third cup of cocoa and one-half cup of milk. Mix well and bring to a boil, stirring to melt sugar nicely.
- When this boils up, turn up heat; add two-thirds cup of peanut butter and two teaspoons of vanilla.
- Stir until peanut butter is melted and well blended.
- Pour this over the oats and nuts.
- Stir with a fork until all oats are covered.
- Drop on wax paper.
- Let set to become firm.
