No Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

  1. Prepare in large mixing bowl three and one-half cups of quick cook oats.
  2. (Add one half cup nuts, if desired) and a pinch of salt.
  3. Mix in a saucepan, one and a half cups of sugar, one stick of soft margarine, one-third cup of cocoa and one-half cup of milk. Mix well and bring to a boil, stirring to melt sugar nicely.
  4. When this boils up, turn up heat; add two-thirds cup of peanut butter and two teaspoons of vanilla.
  5. Stir until peanut butter is melted and well blended.
  6. Pour this over the oats and nuts.
  7. Stir with a fork until all oats are covered.
  8. Drop on wax paper.
  9. Let set to become firm.
