Scripture Cake
- 1 1/2 c. butter (Psalms 55:21)
- 6 eggs (Isaiah 10:14)
- 1/8 tsp. salt (Luke 14:34)
- 2 tsp. baking powder (1 Corinthians 5:6)
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg (2 Chronicles 9:9)
- 1 tsp. each: allspice and ground cloves (2 Chronicles 9:9)
- 4 tsp. cinnamon (2 Chronicles 9:9)
- 1/2 c. milk (Judges 4:19)
- 2 Tbsp. honey (Judges 14:18)
- 2 c. raisins (2 Samuel 16:1)
- 2 c. chopped figs (Song of Solomon 2:13)
- 2 c. blanched, slivered almonds (Numbers 17:8)
- 2 c. sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
- 4 1/2 c. flour (1 Kings 4:22)
- Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Sift together the next 7 ingredients and add alternately with the milk to the batter.
- Stir in honey and fold in the fruits and nuts.
- Mix well. Bake in 2 greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pans for 1 hour or until done. Cool 30 minutes before removing cakes from pans to rack to finish cooling.
