Apple Pie
- Pastry for double crust (9-inch) pie
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 7-1/4 tsp. Equal
- for recipes or 24 packets Equal
- sweetener or 1 c. Equal
- Spoonful
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 8 c. apples, sliced, cored, and peeled (Use Jonathan, McIntosh, or Rome Beauty apples)
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Roll half the pasty onto floured surface into circle a little larger than inverted pie plate. Gently put pastry into pan.
- Combine cornstarch, Equal|, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
- Sprinkle over apples in a large bowl and toss.
- Place apple mixture into pie crust.
- Roll other half pastry into circle large enough to cover pie.
- Cut out shapes from pastry using cookie cutter.
- Place pastry on pie.
- Trim and seal edges by pressing with fork.
- Place cut out shapes onto pie crust. Bake 40-50 minutes, until pastry is brown and apples are tender. Cool on wire rack.
