Fried Chicken

  1. Put roast in a large covered pot and brown on medium-high heat 2 to 3 minutes on all sides.
  2. Add onion soup mix, mushroom soup and water.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Cut heat to low when it comes to a boil; cover and simmer 1 hour.
  5. Add potatoes, carrots and mushrooms. Cover and simmer 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. When meat is very tender, add the cornstarch mixture and stir until slightly thickened for your gravy.
  7. You do not need to add salt because of the salt in the dry onion soup mix.
  8. Serves 4 to 6.
