Mom'S Famous Macaroni And Cheese
- 1 box brand name macaroni noodles
- 1/2 stick butter
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 10 oz. sharp white Cheddar, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 10 oz. Swiss cheese, sliced 1/4 inch thick
- 1 tube Ritz crackers, rolled into fine crumbs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. milk
- Melt butter in deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Stir in flour until completely mixed.
- Slowly add milk while stirring, until a white sauce develops.
- Add pepper and keep stirring until thick.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Slowly add sharp Cheddar and Swiss slices, stirring until cheese mixes with sauce.
- Bring 2 quarts water to a rolling boil.
- Add macaroni, stirring occasionally until tender.
- Drain noodles and return to pot.
- Add cheese mixture and stir thoroughly.
- Pour macaroni and cheese into large 9 1/2 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Cover macaroni and cheese with a thin layer of Ritz cracker crumbs.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 minutes.
