Golden Cheese Wheel
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2/3 c. warm water (110~ to 115~)
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 c. (12 oz.) shredded Muenster cheese
- 1/2 c. fresh parsley, cut up
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. sesame seed
- Soften yeast in warm water.
- Beat in 1 cup of flour, oil, 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
- Stir in enough of remaining flour to make a moderately stiff dough.
- Turn out onto lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 5 to 8 minutes. Place in lightly greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover; let rise in warm place until double (about 1 hour).
- Punch down; divide into 2 portions.
- Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
- Roll out each portion to 13-inch circle.
- Place 1 circle on greased round pan.
- Combine 1 egg, cheese, parsley, garlic salt and pepper; spread over dough in pan.
- Place second dough over cheese filling.
- Trim and flute.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 20 minutes.
- Brush top with mixture of beaten egg and water.
- Sprinkle with sesame seed. Bake for 12 minutes.
- Cut into wedges; serve hot.
- Makes 16 to 20 servings.
