Cheeseburger Buns

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add milk, sugar, shortening, egg, salt, and 2 c. flour; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 4-6 minutes.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  5. In a skillet, cook beef and onion until beef is no longer pink.
  6. Set aside.
  7. Stir tomato sauce and remove from head. Divide dough into 16 pieces on a lightly floured surface.
  8. Roll out and stretch each piece.
  9. Top each piece with cheese and 3 Tbsp. beef, bring dough over and seal.
  10. Let rise and bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
