Fresh Apple Pound Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar.
  3. Add eggs, beating after each one.
  4. Add vanilla and mix well.
  5. Mix flour, spices, salt and soda together and add to sugar mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  6. Fold in apples and pecans.
  7. Blend well.
  8. Pour into 10-inch well-greased and floured tube cake pan. Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Remove and brush with glaze.
