Soft Molasses Cookies

  1. Sift 3 cups of the flour with the salt and spices; set aside. Cream shortening and sugar; add egg.
  2. Beat together until light. Next, add the molasses and vinegar, then the dry ingredients.
  3. Add soda dissolved in boiling water last.
  4. If necessary, add more flour to make a soft dough.
  5. Drop by soup spoon or tablespoon onto a cookie sheet.
  6. Sprinkle lightly with granulated sugar.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for about 12 minutes.
