Apple Bread
- 1/2 c. oleo
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 Tbsp. buttermilk
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. peeled and cored apples
- 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- Cream 1/2 cup butter, gradually adding sugar; beat until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to batter, mixing well.
- Stir in flour.
- Add vanilla.
- Stir in apples, walnuts and raisins.
- Spoon into 2 greased and floured 7 1/2 x 3 x 2-inch loaf pans.
- Drizzle melted butter over loaves.
- Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; stir well and sprinkle over loaves.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 to 50 minutes.
- Yields 2 loaves.
