Orange Slice Cake
- 3 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
- 1 (8 oz.) pitted dates, chopped
- 2 c. walnuts or pecans
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 (4 1/4 oz.) can coconut
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- Sift together flour and 1/2 teaspoon soda.
- Combine orange slice, dates, nuts and coconut.
- Add 1/2 cup flour mixture to fruit mixture.
- Mix well.
- Cream butter until light, then gradually add sugar, beating constantly.
- Add eggs, one at a time to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Combine 1 teaspoon soda with buttermilk and add alternately with flour mixture to cream mixture, beating after each addition.
- Add candy mixture and blend.
- Pour into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300u0b0 for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
