Short Ribs A La Sauerbraten

  1. Place ribs in a non-reactive bowl.
  2. Mix all ingredients, except for flour and fat and pour over the ribs.
  3. Cover and refrigerate overnight to marinate.
  4. Next day remove ribs from marinade, reserving marinade. Drain well.
  5. Roll the ribs in the flour.
  6. Melt the fat and brown the ribs well on all sides.
  7. Drain, pour marinade over and simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours til tender.
