Chocolate Walnut Dollars
- 1/2 c. butter or oleo
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- Cream together butter, sugar and slightly beaten egg.
- Add vanilla, dry ingredients and milk.
- Melt chocolate (microwave works) and mix into dough.
- Dough will be thick.
- I knead it with my hands until uniform in color.
- Add nuts; divide dough into halves and form into 2 long rolls on plastic wrap.
- Chill dough until firm.
- Unwrap roll and slice thinly, about 1/2-inch.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven for about 10 minutes.
- Cookies will not puff up. Dough will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Makes about 40 half dollar size cookies.
