Cavatina
- 6 c. Italian cooking sauce
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 large bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 can sliced mushrooms
- 1 pkg. sliced pepperoni
- 1 pkg. grated Mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 8 oz. mixed pastas (at least 4 different types, such as small shells, small corkscrews, small elbow macaroni, thin egg noodles, etc.)
- Mix the different pasta together and cook in boiling water until tender.
- While pasta is cooking, brown ground beef in skillet.
- Remove beef from skillet and use drippings to saute bell pepper and onion slices until tender.
- Add mushroom slices and heat thoroughly.
- Drain off excess drippings from vegetables.
- In large casserole dish, layer the following:
- Pasta mixture, vegetables, beef, pepperoni, cheese and sauce.
- Repeat layers, ending with cheese on top.
- Bake at 350u0b0 until thoroughly heated and cheese is melted.
- Serve with French bread and a green salad.
- Serves 8.
