French Bread(Easy)
- 2 1/2 c. very warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 2 pkg. or cakes yeast
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. melted margarine or oil
- 7 c. unsifted flour
- cornmeal (optional)
- 1 egg white mixed with 1 Tbsp. water
- Add yeast to very warm water and mix well in large bowl.
- Add salt and melted margarine or oil; mix.
- Add (all at one time) 7 cups flour.
- Mix well with spoon or by hand.
- (Dough will be somewhat sticky.)
- Place in greased bowl.
- (Do not knead.)
- Let rise until double in bulk.
- Punch down and divide into 2 portions. Roll into rectangle.
- Starting at long side, roll up into loaf and tuck ends under.
- Place on greased cookie sheet (sprinkled with cornmeal).
- Let rise until doubled and brush tops with egg white mixture.
- Bake at 450u0b0 until browned.
