Tamale Pie
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 c. onion, chopped
- 1 c. chopped green pepper
- 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (12 oz.) can whole kernel corn, drained
- 1/2 c. pitted black olives, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 tsp. chili powder
- dash of pepper
- 6 oz. sharp cheese, shredded
- 1 1/2 c. corn meal
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. cold water
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
- Cook meat, onion and pepper in large skillet until meat is lightly browned and vegetables are tender. Stir in tomato sauce, corn, olives and all remaining ingredients. Simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until thick.
- Add cheese and stir until melted.
- Turn into greased baking dish.
