Mom'S Christmas Torte
- 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 2 Tbsp. water
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 sticks butter
- 1 c. sour cream
- 4 eggs, divided
- apricot jam
- raspberry jam
- 1 pkg. cream cheese
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- Mix together flour, salt and sugar with pastry blender.
- (I use a fork, it works just as well.)
- Cut in butter as you would if you were making pie crust.
- Add sour cream and four egg yolks. Mix in.
- Add yeast and mix again.
- After it is completely mixed, knead dough on a floured surface until smooth.
- Divide dough into four equal parts.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate overnight. Thirty minutes before baking, remove dough from refrigerator.
- Cut each piece into two.
- Roll out into the size of a loaf pan.
