Barbecued Hamburg Stacks
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 3 c. soft bread cubes
- 1/4 c. hot milk
- Lemon Barbecue Sauce
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 c. melted shortening
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. marjoram
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
- Combine ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper.
- Shape into 10 equal meat patties.
- Combine bread cubes with milk, egg, shortening, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, marjoram and onion.
- Shape into 5 bread patties.
- Place 5 meat patties in a shallow baking dish.
- Top each with a bread patty.
- Place another meat patty on top of the bread.
- Pour barbecue sauce over hamburg stacks.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 325u0b0 for 30 minutes, basting often with sauce.
