Layered Salad
- lettuce
- cauliflower, cut in small pieces
- purple onion, chopped
- green pepper, chopped
- lettuce
- celery, chopped
- broccoli, cut in small pieces
- black pepper
- 1 lb. bacon, fried crisp
- frozen green peas
- Louisiana Red Hot
- Cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 c. mayonnaise
- Layer all ingredients beginning and ending with lettuce.
- I usually put 2 layers of all vegetables.
- Mix mayonnaise, black pepper and Red Hot to taste.
- Should be spicy.
- Spread over top of vegetables.
- Cover completely with no lettuce showing.
- Top with cheese.
- Sprinkle with crumbled bacon.
- Cover tightly with plastic wrap.
- Refrigerate 6 hours or more before serving.
- This takes a while to make and I find it's really easy to make several at one time, keep one and take the others as treats for friends.
