Russian Easter Kulich

  1. Sprinkle yeast onto warm water.
  2. Dissolve.
  3. In large bowl, combine milk, sugar, margarine, vanilla, cardamon and salt.
  4. Add yeast, then eggs, stirring until well blended.
  5. Add glazed fruit, then gradually beat in flour.
  6. Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth and satiny.
  7. Place in greased bowl, cover with towel and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 2 hours. Punch down dough.
  8. Divide into 2 or 4 sections; place each into a well-greased can.
  9. Cover and let rise until doubled in size again.
