Bavarian Pot Roast
- 1 (3 lb.) beef chuck roast
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (6 oz.) can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
- 1 medium onion, cut in wedges
- 1 Tbsp. beef flavor instant bouillon or 3 beef flavor bouillon cubes
- 1/2 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 medium carrots, pared and sliced
- 2 medium potatoes, pared and quartered
- 2 all-purpose apples, cored and cut in wedges
- Coat meat with flour.
- In large kettle, brown in oil.
- Add juice concentrate, onion, bouillon and spices.
- Cover and simmer 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Add carrots and potatoes, cover and simmer 45 minutes.
- Add apples, cover and simmer 15 minutes.
- Refrigerate leftovers.
