Chewy Oatmeal Cookies

  1. Cream butter and lard in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well.
  2. Add eggs and mix well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt in a small mixing bowl; add to creamed mixture, stirring until well blended.
  4. Add oats, pecans and coconut, mixing well.
  5. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
  6. Bake at 350u0b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
  7. Remove from cookie sheets, cool on wire racks.
  8. Yields 10 dozen.
