Barbecue Spareribs
- 4 lb. spareribs
- 1 onion, peeled and quartered
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper sauce
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1/4 c. chili sauce
- 1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onions
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp. mustard
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- dash of cayenne pepper
- In large kettle, place ribs, onion quarters, salt and pepper sauce in 3 quarts water.
- Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours until very tender.
- Drain.
- Meanwhile, make barbecue sauce in medium saucepan.
- Combine all ingredients for sauce and simmer, uncovered, for one hour, stirring occasionally. Arrange ribs on rack in broiler pan, basting frequently with sauce 10 minutes on each side.
