Smothered Cubed Steak
- steak
- flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 c. water or milk
- 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 to 1 c. chopped onion (optional)
- Pound into steak a mixture of self-rising flour, salt and garlic salt.
- Fry steak quickly on all sides in 3 tablespoons hot oil.
- Remove; cook all of the steak.
- Add more oil if needed.
- When all of the steak is cooked, remove from pan.
- Add 3 tablespoons self-rising flour; brown well, adding oil if needed.
- Mix water or milk and Worcestershire sauce.
- Pour into browned flour; cook until a thin gravy.
- Add more milk if needed.
- Return browned steak to gravy; simmer for 30 minutes.
- May add chopped onion to meat before the simmering starts.
- Serve with rice, green beans and garden salad.
