Ham With Barbecue Beans
- 1 lb dried navy beans, picked over
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons molasses
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- fresh ground black pepper
- 1 (4 -7 lb) bone-in picnic ham
- Combine the beans, 3 cups water, the onion, ketchup, maple syrup, brown sugar, mustard, molasses, worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoons pepper in a 6-qt. slow cooker. Set the ham on top, then cover and cook on high 8 hours.
- Transfer the ham to a platter and skim off the excess fat from the beans. Slice the ham and serve with the beans.
